Nurseries in Jersey can allow more kids to return

Private nurseries, childminders and nannies in Jersey will be able to welcome back more children from Monday.

Nurseries had to close when the island went into lockdown.

The Education Minister announced today that from Monday (22 June) more children will start returning to school and nursery.

Two weeks ago years six, 10 and 12 returned to class with a reduced timetable as part of a phased return. Some private nurseries allowed a limited number of children to return as well.

ITV News visited one of those nurseries to see how they have been coping.

Acrewood have built yurts outside to bring back as many young people as possible.

With physical distancing for two to five year olds being difficult, each yurt holds a ‘bubble’ of eight children who can interact with each other.

Acrewood had been hoping for the Government to relax the rules.
