Jersey's Health Minister says she is saddened after owners of a Jersey nursery said they were forced to close down because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Rainbow Tots, based at Beaumont and Les Quennevais, has been running for the last 17 years and employs 32 people.
However, owners say that once nurseries were advised to close, they could not afford to meet the running costs without the fees coming in.
In a statement responding to the news, Jersey's Education Minister Senator Tracey Vallois said it had not been an easy decision to see education establishments close on the island.
Senator Vallois says the States have been in regular communication with the childcare sector through the Jersey Early Years Association (JEYA) to direct providers towards financial support.
She says work was being done with affected families to make sure alternative options for childcare and nursery education were available to them.
A board will also review funding and fee issues for education providers, with an update expected later this month.
