Pupils starting Guernsey secondary schools will wear current uniform

Pupils due to start in Guernsey's States-run secondary schools this September will not be wearing the new style of uniforms.

Guernsey’s new model of education had proposed that schools would see their uniforms changed.

Pupils starting secondary school in September were due to start in the new style of uniform.

Last month however, the States voted to pause and review the controversial plans and it was decided the results of this review would be reported back in early 2021. It was therefore decided pupils starting secondary education should wear the existing uniforms.

The States have been working with shops to make sure they have enough stock to sell the existing secondary school uniforms. However, islanders have been warned that the coronavirus pandemic may affect the number of uniforms shops have.
