Pat McCormick's family say killers 'have to go behind bars'
Pat McCormick's brother has revealed that after he disappeared, their elderly parents searched for their son every day until his body was found.
In an exclusive interview with UTV, Harry McCormick says it's vital his killers are now put behind bars.
The body of the 55-year-old was found in a lake in the Ballygowan area on Tuesday, following searches which resulted from information passed on to the PSNI.
The police spent three days searching the area before they discovered Mr McCormick's body.
His wife, children, parents and brothers were quickly informed that he had finally been found.
The father-of four had not been seen since Thursday 30 May, when he left his parents’ home in Ballynahinch and drove back to Comber.
A murder investigation was launched shortly after his disappearance.
Following the discovery, lead investigator DCI Pete Montgomery said his thoughts are with his family.
The CCTV footage which showed Pat McCormick's last known movements has been described as a crucial part of the murder inquiry.
The footage shows the 55-year-old driving his black Citroen C4 in the Castle Street area of Comber.
Mr McCormick is also shown crossing the road towards a block of apartments.
"It's devastating to watch that, to know that's his last movements. For my mother and father to watch it, it's devastating for them," Harry told UTV.
A £10,000 reward had been offered for information that would lead to the recovery of Pat McCormick’s body.
An anonymous tip-off led police to searching the lakes near Ballygowan where his body was then found.
Harry said his family are truly thankful that someone, somewhere helped the police find Pat.
He said, "It was a weight lifted off our shoulders. It was great for my mum and dad to know that their son was coming home."
A 26-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were arrested in the Comber area on Thursday morning and are being questioned on suspicion of murder.
The pair were previously arrested in June before being released on bail pending further inquiries.
Detectives investigating the murder say they are still looking for Pat McCormick's mobile phone.
They also say they are keen to trace the movements of a blue Ford Transit van which was seen in and around Comber or heading towards Killinchy at the end of May.
Harry said his family wants to see those responsible for Mr McCormick's murder behind bars.
"Pat has paid the ultimate price, we need to get justice for him."
