Grand designs for Whitley Bay promenade revealed
Grand designs for Whitley Bay’s Northern Promenade have been unveiled.
North Tyneside Council said the blueprint draws upon the history of the town while looking firmly to the future.
The designs show how the seafront strip will be transformed by new surfacing, seating, shelters, leisure and exercise facilities. Council bosses also hope to attract new shops and businesses.
The designs form part of the authority’s Seafront Master Plan forWhitley Bay, which includes more than £36m of investment at the coast.
The plan, which has also been developed in partnership with Kierand in conjunction with Whitley Bay Big Local along with feedback from thepublic, also includes opportunities within ‘The Northern Promenade Walk’to feature public art.
The designs, as well as information about other projects included in theMaster Plan, will be on display during an engagement event at theRendezvous Cafe on 28 June between 9am and 11am.
