Carlisle To Settle Railway

Direct trains services between Carlisle and Newcastle and Carlisle and Skipton will resume this week, after the routes were closed by a train derailment.

Services between Carlisle and Leeds were suspended as a result of the incident. They have now resumed.

The Grade Two listed Ribblehead Viaduct was nearly lost forever three decades ago when the Government planned to close the route.
