Herm reopens to boaters
People are allowed to visit Herm for the first time since lockdown started.
Boaters from the Bailiwick of Guernsey arrived on the islands shores and have been able to walk round and enjoy a meal and drink at the Mermaid pub.
The Herm shop has also reopened.
It is the first time in nine weeks the ‘paradise island’ has seen visitors.
The island is testing its social distancing measures before it opens up to the wider public.
Officials have said that the island is still in discussion with the States of Guernsey and Travel Trident to finalise details and dates for recommencing passenger ferry services but they hope to make an announcement ‘as soon as possible’.
The island currently has no moorings, so people will only be able to visit if they can anchor offshore safely.
