CI Sports Awards 2019: Sports Personality of the Year Winner announced

Guernsey footballer Maya Le Tissier has taken the top prize at the Betway Channel Islands Sports Awards 2019.

A former Rising Star winner, Le Tissier beat Guernsey athlete Cameron Chalmers, Jersey shooter Cameron Pirouet, and Jersey swimmer Harry Shalamon to the Sports Personality of the Year award.

The 17-year-old footballer has established herself in Brighton & Hove Albion's FA WSL squad over the last 12 months, and will become the island's first women's professional when she turns 18.

Le Tissier follows in the footsteps of Jersey netball star Serena Guthrie who took the crown at the 2018 event.
