Deputy Matt Fallaize has been declared Guernsey's new President for Education Sport & Culture (ESC).

He was up against Deputy Carl Meerveld, who resigned as Vice-President of the ESC in December 2017 after criticism of an alleged £10,000 spend on a PR company.Deputy Fallaize received 23 votes, whilst Deputy Meerveld received 17.

The election comes after some ESC members resigned earlier this year after their proposals for a 3 school model of secondary education lost out to an alternative 2-school plan.

Deputies Graham, Tooley, Roffey & Dorey have been elected to fill the remain four positions on the ESC.
