Guernsey politician resigns from Education Committee
Deputy Lester Queripel has announced he is stepping down from the Committee for Education, Sport and Culture.
It follows his appointment to the role just less than two weeks ago.
His resignation means all members of the committee have now resigned and a whole new committee will be elected at the next States Meeting.
In a statement, Deputy Queripel said by “wiping the slate clean” it would give the island's parliament the opportunity to vote for a completely new committee in the forthcoming elections.
He added: "I do however, intend standing as a candidate in the forthcoming elections to elect five new members onto the Committee for Education, Sport and Culture, as I would very much like to be a member of the new committee".
