Asian beef wraps
Sally Bee's Vow to Wow wraps use lettuce instead of tortillas to freshen up an asian beef dish. Make ahead of time for a tasty lunch or make plenty to share as part of a dinner. Delicious!
Ingredients
1 lb lean minced beef (you can also use minced chicken, pork or turkey)1 tbsp olive oil1 cup onion, roughly chopped4 cloves garlic, diced1 inch piece of ginger, diced¾ cup water chestnuts, roughly chopped5 tbsp hoisin sauce1 tbsp low salt soy sauce2 little gem lettuce
Optional toppings:
Shredded carrotsRoughly chopped toasted peanuts or cashew nutsToasted sesame seedsChopped spring onion
Method
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pan. Add in the beef and break it apart with a cooking spoon into smaller pieces.
Season with salt and pepper to taste and cook till no longer pink. Set aside on a separate plate.
In the same pan, cook the onion, garlic, and ginger for 3-4 minutes. Add the meat and water chestnuts into the pan.
Stir in the hoisin sauce and soy sauce and cook everything together fora few minutes
To serve, place the meat mixture in the lettuce cups and top with shredded carrots, peanuts, sesame seeds, spring onion, and extra hoisin sauce
