Zachary Quinto remembers Star Trek co-star

The focus has to be to celebrate his life and his incredible spirit

Zachary Quinto pays tribute to Star Trek castmate Anton Yelchin

He's reprising his iconic role as Commander Spock for the third time in new movie Star Trek Beyond, actor and producer Zachary Quinto joins Lorraine to talk about the final frontier, the reveal of Hikaru Sulu's LGBT status, and pays tribute to his 'incredible' cast-mate Anton Yelchin who died in a car accident in June.

Star Trek Beyond marks one of the final film appearances of Anton Yelchin, known for playing Pavel Chekov, who died at the age of 27 in a freak car accident only a month before the movie's scheduled release.

"It still remains unfathomable to all of us that he's not going to come bounding through the door at our press junkets or join us for the premieres," Zachary told Lorraine.

"At such a young age, he was only 27, he made such incredible contributions creatively and made so many wonderful films. People who worked with him just adored him.

"We knew it was going to be a bittersweet reunion because of the loss of Leonard [Nimoy], but I don't think any of us could have imagined that this tragedy would befall all of us. "

He continued: "The bond between us has been strengthened by this horrible loss. He's definitely with us on this tour and wherever we go. We miss him."

The third installment of the sci-fi movie follows the crew of the USS Enterprise as they come under attack by a seemingly unstoppable wave of unknown aliens, forcing them to abandon ship. Stranded on an unknown planet and with no apparent means of rescue, the crew find themselves in conflict with a new and ruthless enemy.
