Revealing my post-baby body to the world
I thought if I can help one mum feel better about themselves, then it would make a difference
Today we were joined by a mum who decided to share untouched pictures of her post baby body online in a determined bid to show the reality of motherhood.
We're often surprised by images of celebrities looking super slim and glamorous, just a matter of weeks after one of the most challenging things any woman can go through.
But Julie Bhosale became an international sensation when she put filter-free pictures of her post baby figure online, every day for 14 weeks, attracting more than two million fans.
Today, she joined Gaby to talk about the overwhelming response from around the globe.
When her first son, Arjan, was born in October 2012, Julie, who is a nutritionist, was taken by surprise at the changes to her body brought about by exhaustion, sleep deprivation, fluctuating hormones and breastfeeding.
"After the birth of my first son, I really struggled," Julie told Gaby. "I struggled with the changes to my body, the pressure I felt to get my body back, on top of that I had to cope with fatigue, hormone changes, and the fact I was a mum for the first time."
Two years later, when she was pregnant with her second son, Sahan, she decided to document the 'brutiful' (beautiful and brutal) truth about those early days of motherhood, asking her husband Vijay to take photos of her to show the truth behind what her body really looked straight after giving birth. She posted the snaps online for 14 weeks,
"I thought if I can help one mum feel better about themselves, then it would make a difference," Julie said. "I didn't expect the viral mania that's occurred."
