The great news is that to turn natural and toxic free, you don’t have to spend a fortune! I’m going to share my top DIY recipes I make at home with simple, affordable ingredients you can readily find in your local supermarket; that cover everything from your beauty regime, to your house. With amazing results, that you’ll wonder why you ever used anything else!
Nourishing Face Mask
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 egg yolk
Put the egg yolk in a bowl, and then add all the other ingredients together, mix well and then apply to your face. Leave on for 20 mins, then rinse off with warm water.
Hydrating Antioxidant Face Mask
- ¼ avocado mashed
- 1 tbsp coconut milk
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp matcha
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and then pass through a sieve. The added matcha brings all the added benefits of antioxidants to this mask (it contains 137 more antioxidants than green tea). You can keep the mask in the refrigerator and use every few days for up to a week. Cover your face with the mask, leave on for 20 mins, then rinse off with warm water.
Face Scrub
- Place 2 tbsp porridge into a piece of gauze netting and wrap into a ball.
- Run under warm water and use to scrub the face with for a brilliant exfoliating treatment!
Natural Hair Mask
- 2 tbsp full fat natural yoghurt
- 1 tbsp honey
Combine all the ingredients in the bowel and run the mask through the hair, massaging in at the scalp. Leave on for 20 mins and then rinse off with warm water. You can use once a week to add hydration to your hair.
Nail Polish Remover
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp sea salt
- A few drops of your favourite essential oil
Mix all the ingredients together and leave your hands in the mixture for 10 mins. Wash off with soap and dry.
Furniture Polish
- Olive oil dabbed on a tea towel rubbed over your furniture, so you can’t feel any oil when you wipe, and your furniture will look as good as new!
Glass Cleaner
- ½ cup water
- Half a lemon
- A few drops of your favourite essential oil
Pour all the ingredients into a spray bottle and mix. You can use this to clean any glass around the house by wiping with a natural fibre cloth.
General Multi-Purpose Cleaner
- Half a lemon
- 1/3 cup sodium bicarbonate
You can mix these two ingredients together to create a paste that you can apply to clothes to remove a stain, by covering the stain with the paste, and then rubbing it in and leaving for 10 minutes, before putting in the wash.
If you want to create a cleaner to use on surfaces around the house, just add water and a couple of drops of your favourite essential oil, to a spray bottle, and spritz away all over the house!
