People are being urged not to travel to Devon and Cornwall this bank holiday weekend, as temperatures are set to soar.

The plea from authorities in the two counties forms part of the #comebacklater campaign, which is calling for the nation to stop all non essential travel.

Councils, emergency services and organisations across the force area are pleading with holidaymakers and second home owners to stay away.

Locals are also being reminded to not break the current lockdown rules and head to public spaces.

The Met Office has forecast a spell of warm weather across the region, with highs of 22C predicted - which has added to fears tourists will flock to the region.

During last month's bank holiday weekend, a family drove from London to Devon to go fishing, resulting in them being fined.

A couple who had driven 265 miles to St Ives this week for a break from 'forthcoming exam pressures' were also picked up and fined by police for breaking lockdown rules.
