Guests evacuated from Rhyl caravan park due to floods after Storm Ciara
Guests at a holiday caravan park in Rhyl have been evacuated after it became flooded in the aftermath of Storm Ciara.
Golden Sands Holiday Park in Kinmel Bay, Denbighshire, told everybody to leave by 5pm on Tuesday.
The warning to evacuate came after high tide and winds brought waves against barriers and blocked a drain, flooding the nearby promenade on one side.
The Golden Sands Holiday Park North Wales owners told guests to leave because there was "a serious concern that the park will flood late tonight and again tomorrow lunchtime."
Company bosses said they were following an evacuation plan with people's safety the main priority.
They said the park would be closed for a minimum of 48 hours and there would be regular updates on its Facebook page.
"From what we can see so far, any damage is to the park itself and belongings under caravans," a statement said.
Splash Point in Rhyl and Kinmel Bay also saw flooding as the region was battered again by stormy conditions.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it sent one engine from Rhyl to Kinmel Bay and used a pump to take water out of a nearby bank and back onto the beach.
Crews assisted council workers with the operation, who battled huge waves on Tuesday while trying to prevent flooding in Rhyl homes.
Denbighshire County Council said the flood defences in Rhyl were effective during the storm.
