Council workers battle big waves to keep Rhyl homes from flooding

Huge waves battered sea defences in Rhyl this morning after Natural Resources Wales issued a flood warning to residents.

Denbighshire Council workers used sandbags to bolster the sea defences by Garford Road as anxious residents looked on.

The same area suffered serious flooding five years ago.

The waves did overtop but the defences held.
