21-year-old man charged in connection with stabbing incident in Cardiff
A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with a stabbing incident in the Riverside area of Cardiff.
Ben James, from Llandaff North, was arrested on Wednesday following the serious assault on Smeaton Street on Friday morning. He has been charged with wounding, attempt robbery and possession of a knife.
The alleged victim was taken to the University Hospital of Wales. He has since been discharged.
In the last seven months, the Cardiff Operation Sceptre Team, who focus on reducing knife crime, have arrested almost 250 people, seized more than 70 weapons, and carried out nearly 600 stop searches.
It says tackling knife crime is a priority for the force.
Following the incident, which was the second stabbing in Cardiff in 24 hours, police were given the authority to stop and search anyone in the Butetown, Grangetown and Riverside areas.
James has been remanded in custody and will appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
