Work to paint the pier of the new Wear Crossing has been halted after specks of paint were found on cars.

New Wear Crossing one step closer to completion

People in Sunderland have seen a milestone development on the New Wear Crossing site. 

28 cable stays are to be installed as part of one of the final major milestones of the project that is due to open in Spring 2018.

The 105 metre centrepiece of the New Wear Crossing has been pulled into its final position after a two day operation

By 1pm, the pylon had been raised by about 35 degrees and by 4pm it was more than half way through the raising operation.
