L S Lowry

The iconic Royal Iris ferry was known as the ‘fish and chip’ boat as it had its own chip shop on board.

The painting by Salford's LS Lowry was acquired for the nation through the government’s Acceptance in Lieu scheme.

An exhibition of the Salford artist's work is currently on display at a small gallery in Hale near Altrincham.
