Rare L. S. Lowry sketch to be auctioned in Cheshire
A rare original sketch by L. S. Lowry will go under the hammer this month.
Lowry was 29 when he produced this view of Lytham St Annes in 1916, long before he focused on the Industrial scenes for which he became famous.
The delicate aspect of the landscape is in stark contrast of the smoke filled factories he later painted, and the drawing shows a very soft touch and a huge amount of detail.
Estimated at £8,000-£12,000, the drawing goes under the hammer as part of Adam Partridges’ 2 day auction on 23rd and 24th February 2017 at The Cheshire Saleroom in Macclesfield.
