Kendal Mountain Festival

Thousands of outdoor enthusiasts are descending on south Cumbria for the start of the Kendal Mountain Festival. The event was held online last year.

One of Cumbria's biggest annual events, the Kendal Mountain Festival, has begun. It's expected to bring up to 20,000 people to the town.

The opening ceremony will be led by mountaineer Sir Chris Bonington tonight. It's the main social event for outdoor enthusiasts in the UK.
