Police have asked for the assistance of the Joint Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal after a suspicious item was discovered.

Army experts have been carrying out controlled explosions on the haul of grenades since they were discovered on Monday.

The discovery was made by builders who reported "noxious gas" seeping from underground, said police.
