Bomb disposal called to Sunderland house after suspected explosives found

Northumbria Police uncovered suspected explosives during a raid at a Sunderland home.

The planned warrant took place at a property on Amy Street on Friday 25 June.

While searching the house suspicious items were found prompting officers to call in the bomb disposal unit to rule out that the items were explosives.

Test results confirmed the items were not explosives.

Officers arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with the investigation. He remains in police custody.
