Pride of Britain winner for west of ITV Meridian revealed

The four finalists for the western part of the ITV Meridian region

The finalist chosen to represent the western part of the ITV Meridian region at this year’s Daily Mirror Pride of Britain awards is Nathan Abbott from Sussex, who becomes a Pride of Britain Fundraiser of the Year.

The winner was chosen from four finalists by a panel including the actors and fundraisers, Sarah Parish and James Murray; the MasterChef Winner, Shelina Permalloo; and Kim White OBE from Kent Police.

The stories of the four finalists have been broadcast on the first four evenings of the week:

Patsy Hallmey from Bournemouth who co-founded the Dorset Children's Foundation five years ago. Since then, she has raised more than five hundred thousand pounds.

Nathan Abbott, our winner, is from Littlehampton. He was bullied in school because of his cleft palate. He took up swimming and has since raised thousands of pounds to help children all over the world.

Courtney Hughes, aged 20, from Didcot has spent the last seven years collecting thousands of Christmas presents for children's hospitals, nursing homes and shelters.

Rose Dalton from Ascothas raised more than a million pounds in 11 years through 'Relay for Life' - a 24-hour sponsored walk at Ascot Racecourse.
