Celebrations underway as part of 'mini' Alderney Week
Alderney Week celebrations will start today despite the event previously being cancelled following the coronavirus outbreak. In May, organisers announced it would be the first time in 72 years that the event - which is the largest free festival in the Channel Islands - has not taken place.
Since lockdown restrictions in the Bailiwick of Guernsey were lifted and the decision has been reversed.
The 'mini' festival will start on Monday 3 August with Cavalcade Day celebrations and run through to Saturday 8 August.
This year's theme is 'The Twenties' and islanders are encouraged to dress up and decorate bikes, prams, motorbikes and cars.
