Experts are warning that we have not seen the last of coronavirus
Yesterday (30 June) it was announced that the island no longer has any known active cases of Covid-19
But health officials say we should celebrate the milestone cautiously.
I feel it's a very good day but I want to be modest and measured about it because it's quite possible that there are test results that are still pending, waiting to come back so I wouldn't like it to be seen as any sort of failure to see some cases popping up in the next few weeks because we almost certainly will.
Dr Susan Turnbull, Jersey's Medical Officer of Health Islanders are being reminded to continue with all the safety measures that we have adopted over the past four months.
We need to learn to live alongside Covid until such time that we have an effective vaccine so it is important that we continue with the response that has served the people of Jersey so well, to continue with safer hygiene, safer distancing, safety in small crowds, and of course safety outdoors.
