General waste now accepted at Guernsey's recycling centre
General waste is now being accepted at Guernsey's recycling centre.
The site at Longue Hougue reopened at the end of April, but measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 meant a limit on what materials could be dropped off.
Initially, this was restricted to the most common recyclable items, such as blue and clear kerbside bags, food waste, glass, scrap metal, inert waste, electrical appliances and rigid plastic.
But now, general waste and bulky items are going to be accepted, as well as clothes and shoes. Charity clothing banks at all other locations remain closed.
The usual charges will apply for disposal of general waste. Payments can only be made by card, and contactless transactions are preferred.
To ensure social distancing is maintained, site staff are unable to help unload vehicles.
