People returning to the Channel Islands still face 14 day self-isolation despite UK exemption
Islanders returning to the Channel Islands from the UK will still need to self-isolate for two weeks, despite being exempt from the new quarantine rules in the UK.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson says that all international arrivals to the UK will now need to self-isolate for 14 days once they land in Britain - but exemptions will be made for the Channel Islands.
However, the States of Guernsey and Government of Jersey both say there are no immediate plans to change the regulations for those travelling to the islands - both governments have imposed a 14-day isolation period on anyone arriving.
A date for the new UK measures has not yet been confirmed, but all jurisdictions within the Common Travel Area - which includes the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Ireland - will be exempt.
The measures will stay under review to assess whether the transmission of Covid-19 is being kept under control.
More information on travel guidance for the Bailiwick of Guernsey is available on the government's website.
