Calls to strike a deal with the UK to travel freely
Tourism bosses in Jersey are calling for a travel deal with the UK, to allow visitors to come to the island without needing to self-isolate for 14 days.
Only essential travel is currently allowed, but as the lockdown restrictions are gradually eased, it's hoped regular air and sea connections could return.
Visit Jersey says the British 'staycation' market may be the only way to salvage the summer tourism season - and testing at point of departure could 'clear' people to make the journey.
At its latest media briefing, Guernsey's government confirmed it is considering a Channel Islands travel 'bubble'.
Guernsey is currently in phase two of the exit strategy meaning full lockdown remains in place. Currently some gardening, building and other trades are able to work under strict controls and limited recreational activity with social distancing measures is allowed.
Meanwhile Jersey has started to relax its lockdown measures and is currently in their level four. Most islanders are allowed to leave their home for up to four hours a day for any reason, and a household is allowed to meet up to two other people outdoors while maintaining social distancing.
