Islanders encouraged to celebrate Sark's Liberation Day at home

Sark is encouraging islanders to throw stay-at-home street parties to mark 75 years of liberation.

The island was liberated from Nazi occupation a day after Jersey and Guernsey on 10 May 1945.

Like other islands, Sark has had to cancel its original plans due to the coronavirus pandemic.

People are being encouraged to make bunting and have a picnic in their front gardens.

The organising committee are asking people to pick up their phones and spread the message to fellow islanders, as they are having difficulty in advertising the announcement due to shop closures.
