Guernsey’s new education model could be impacted by coronavirus
Guernsey’s Chief Minister confirmed that coronavirus will impact the future planning and timing of some government projects.
One of those is the controversial new secondary model of education.
Earlier in the year Guernsey States voted to ‘pause and review’ the education plans, which would see the new Lisia school split across two sites.
Now this could be one of the projects that sees another delay.
Deputy Gavin St Pier said that some things will be accelerated as new priorities emerge but the debate on the ‘Future Guernsey plan’ will be cancelled as the health crisis has forced the States to prioritise.
The 20-year vision for the island was agreed as a policy priority by the States and would try to make Guernsey among ‘the happiest and healthiest places in the world’.
