No confidence motion officially lodged against Education Committee
ITV News can confirm that a motion of no confidence has been officially lodged against members of the Education Committee in Guernsey.
The motion calls for the Deputies who supported selection at 11 for pupils to step down.
It comes after the States voted to abolish the 11-plus and introduce a non-selective system earlier this month.
Three out of five of the Deputies on the Education Committee disagree with that move.
Some politicians have "profound concerns" they won't be able to implement changes to the system, voted for by the government.
The politicians supporting the motion are:
Deputy E A Yerby
Deputy C N K Parkinson
Deputy J P Le Tocq
Deputy D A Tindall
Deputy S L Langlois
Deputy H L de Sausmarez
Deputy R H Tooley
Earlier this month, Deputy Marc Leadbeater, a supporter of an inclusive system, resigned from the Education Committee.
He said the department needed a new and clear mandate from the States Assembly.
But the Education Committee released a statement saying, despite "personal views" they are "fully committed" to the changes.
They are yet to respond to the no confidence motion,
