Miller family are against death penalty for guilty pair

The Miller family outside court in Thailand after the verdict was given

David Miller's father has told ITV News the family are against the death penalty, which has been issued as punishment to the two men found guilty of David's murder.

Mr Miller says that while the family support the guilty conviction, they don't agree with further loss of life.

Today the guilty pair have launched an appeal to their conviction.

Zaw Lin and Wai Phyo, two Burmese migrant workers, were sentenced to death for killing Jersey man David Miller and British woman Hannah Withridge in Thailand.

Mr Miller says he feels reassured by the fact that Thailand has not actually executed anyone sentenced to death since 2009.

A human rights activist working to defend the Burmese pair has said the investigation was 'botched' and can't prove their guilt.
