Large mural created to honour 'hero' Owen Jenkins
A giant 30 foot street art mural is being created in Beeston in Nottinghamshire in honour of local schoolboy Owen Jenkins.
Owen died in July 2017 trying to rescue two girls who got into difficulty in the River Trent at Beeston Weir.
During the inquest into the 12-year-olds death, coroner Mairin Casey said that Owen "selflessly and fearlessly put the safety of others before his own."
His family set up the OWEN (Open Water Education Network) Trust last year to teach young people about the dangers of waterways and how to save people from drowning.
Owen has also been honoured in other ways, including a memorial bench painted in his favourite colour, purple.
