Alton Towers have postponed the opening of their new ride, 'The Wicker Man' because of 'worsening weather.'

Temperatures are set to plummet this weekend as a mini 'Beast from the East' is set to grip the region, with amber and yellow weather warnings for snow and ice in Staffordshire.

The 16 million pound 'Wicker Man' ride was due to open for the first time tomorrow, but the park as said it's unlikely and it will continue to monitor the situation.

It's the park's first ever wooden rollercoaster and took three years to design and a year to built.

The park will open tomorrow as normal but many rides will be unavailable.
