Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has said that he is shocked at the closure of the ‘Magical Journey’ Christmas experience at the Belfry in Sutton Coldfield.

He said he was ‘extremely surprised’ after finding out on social media that the extravaganza he helped design had closed.

Last night, the organisers said they had been ‘left in the lurch’ by a key financial backer, and could not find a replacement, so were forced to close.

Llewelyn-Bowen said he had not given any financial support to the ‘Magical Journey’, and that he didn’t know who the backer was.

The celebrity designer said he would be donating his fee to a children’s hospice in Birmingham, saying he didn’t want to make any money from the experience.

The experience organisers said people can get a refund via the Chargeback scheme, and asked people not to contact the Belfry Hotel, who had no affiliation to the running of the ‘Magical Journey.
