UCI Day Seven: Elite women's road race

The UCI Road World Championships culminate this weekend and today the elite women have been racing for glory.

The event got underway in Bradford with thousands lining the streets to cheer the cyclists on their 147km race.

Yorkshire's Lizzie Deignan was hoping for glory for the second time after winning the race in 2015 in USA.

Deignan led the peloton through her home town of Otley early in the day, but when the racing picked up on the finishing circuit around Harrogate she paid the price for her hard work done leading the chase.

And the fairytale story was not to be for the 30 year old as Holland's Annemiek Van Vleuten secured victory with Lizzie finishing in 31st place.
