Allerdale 'bin crisis' to end early September, says council

Normal waste services in Allerdale will resume on the 9th September according to the local council.

Collections were suspended more than eight weeks ago in an attempt to reduce some of the problems faced by the services.

Residents living in the area have been left without garden refuse and recycling collections, and forced to find other ways to dispose of their waste.

Waste company FCC Environment introduced a new collection scheme at the start of April, which meant new bin rounds using new lorries with in-cab technology.

The changes resulted in crews not being able to make it to some properties on the scheduled day.

Until recycling collections resume, sites will remain open for residents to get rid of waste.

A full list of sites can be found on the council’s website, along with answers to frequently asked questions.
