The impact of the coronavirus pandemic on every county in the Anglia region
The number of people dying with coronavirus is still declining week-by-week in the Anglia region for the second consecutive month.
However the number of confirmed cases in the Anglia region has risen by more than 100 in a day for the first time since mid June.
The Office of National Statistics (ONS) has issued the latest information on people dying with coronavirus or with coronavirus mentioned on the death certificate. It reveals that 5,802 have died in the Anglia region since the the start of the pandemic until 26th June.
The Care Quality Commission says 18 more residents of care homes in the Anglia region had died in the week to 3rd July. The NHS has also reported that 44 patients have died in hospitals in the region between 27th June and 5th July.
The total coronavirus death toll in the Anglia region is now 5,864.
The data from the ONS is the most reliable available and includes deaths in care homes, hospices and in the community as well as in hospitals. However there is a delay in reporting the information as it takes time for all deaths to be registered.
Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire have seen the highest death rate in the Anglia region per head of population with the lowest rate in Norfolk.
Across the region 80 people have died in every 100,000 of the population.
