'Heartbreaking' decision taken to cancel Cromer Pier Summer Show
Organisers of the annual Cromer Pier Summer Show have taken the "heartbreaking" decision to cancel this year's event due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The famous seaside spectacle, which is the world's only remaining end of the pier show, has been running every summer for the last 43 years.
However, in light of the pandemic, this year's event won't take place, but staff are still hopeful the Christmas Show will still go ahead.
"Due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic, we are very sad to announce that we have had to make the heartbreaking decision to cancel the 2020 Cromer Pier Summer Show," a spokesperson said.
"We understand that this news is disappointing for our audiences and the community, and we are devastated to have to make this decision.
"We are keeping an eye on all the latest government advice & guidelines and hope to be back in time for the Cromer Pier Christmas Show at the end of this year."
The spokesperson also confirmed that anyone who has already bought a ticket for this year's show will be able to claim a refund or a voucher.
Customers won't be able to visit the pier in person though, and will instead be phoned by a member of the box office team.
The pier, as well the town's car parks, are still closed with local councillors warning visitors to stay away for the time being.
