Hospitals in the Anglia region report 64 more coronavirus deaths
NHS England has announced a further 64 people have died with coronavirus in hospitals the Anglia region taking the total to 2,511.
The figures do not include people dying in the community, in care homes, in hospices or in their own homes.
For the first time on Wednesday, the government included deaths outside hospitals in their daily total. That pushed the total to 26,097. The total reached by the new method of reporting is around 17% higher thanprevious data showed and includes an additional 3,811 deaths recorded since the start of the outbreak.
When weekly figures for deaths outside hospitals, which were released on Tuesday, are added into the total for the Anglia region, the number is 3,281.
Overall, the addition of deaths outside hospital increased the total death toll in the Anglia region by a third.
From Tuesday, NHS England also started including in the daily figures, patients who had died with suspected Covid-19 but who hadn't been tested.
In the East of England, six patients had died between 26th and 28th April with no positive test but Covid-19 was recorded on the death certificate.
Southend Hospital in Essex reported a further nine patients dying with Covid-19 in Wednesday's figures although the deaths occurred between the 21st and 28th April.
The highest number of deaths have been recorded in the West Hertfordshire NHS Trust, which runs hospitals in Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Watford. The total for the trust is 272 with a further four deaths announced on Wednesday.
Across England, a further 445 people, who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 19,746.
NHS England said the patients were aged between 14 and 101 years old and 27 of them, including a 14-year-old had no known underlying health condition.

With the statistics coming from many different sources and covering different time periods the figures will adjust from day to day.
In the Anglia region, 80% of the deaths from coronavirus have so far occurred in hospital. Including the 20% of people dying in care homes, hospices, at home and elsewhere pushes the regional total to 3,281.
The map below shows the new totals in each county shows a sharp contrast with the hospitals figures (above).
In most cases the new data is based on where the victim lived rather than the location of the hospital where they died. This partly explains discrepancies where a hospital is located close to a county boundary and the patients come from two counties.
