Sharp fall in Covid-19 deaths in Anglia region

There's been a sharp fall in deaths announced on Sunday from the coronavirus in the Anglia region.

NHS England announced a further 51 deaths in our hospitals - the lowest daily total since 46 were revealed on Monday April 20th.

It's not yet clear if the fall is due to a dip in reporting fatalities at the weekend.

The total number of people who've died in the Anglia region is now 2,330.

NHS England announced on Saturday that a further 96 patients died with coronavirus in hospitals in the Anglia region. 107 deaths were announced in the region on Friday.

The figures released by NHS England each day do not include those dying in care homes, hospices or in their own home.

Today's figures include ten more deaths at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn between the 21st-24th April.

There've been 9 more at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital with five from 21st April and the other four much earlier in April.

The number of new positive tests for coronavirus is also sharply down in the Anglia region with the lowest number reported in the daily figures since the end of March.

According to Public Health England there were 167 new confirmed Covid-19 cases reported on Sunday bringing the total in the Anglia region to 10,760.

In most counties in the East, the daily increase was in single figures. although there were 47 new cases in Norfolk, a rise of 2%.
