Wet Wattisham gets another proper summer soaking
Wattisham in Suffolk was again the wettest place in Britain on Saturday just a few days after seeing a month's worth of rain in less than 12 hours.
The airfield near Ipswich recorded 39 mm (1.5 inches) of rain between 10am and 10pm on Saturday. In an average June, Wattisham would normally see just over 50 mm (2 inches) of rain in a whole month.
Saturday's rain came on top of a month's worth of rain falling in Wattisham in the early hours of 31 May.
The Met Office has issued a further yellow weather warning for more heavy rain and potential thundery downpours on Sunday.
There was flash flooding in parts of Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire early in the week from more thunderstorms.
Wattisham in Suffolk had 82 mm of rain in May which was over 60% more than normal for May and has already had 40 mm of rain during June.
