Honey G 'excited' to be signed by Simon Cowell's Syco record label

Controversial X Factor rapper Honey G's first single is to be released by Simon Cowell's record label Syco.

Honey, considered by many to be the novelty act of this year's contest, said she is releasing her first single later this month and hinted that an album will follow.

She made the announcement in a video message on Twitter during the Sunday night final of the ITV show which saw Bromley waiter Matt Terry crowned the winner.

Honey G was eliminated from the competition last month after a sing-off against boy band 5 After Midnight, who came third in the competition.

In Saturday's programme, Honey G said that her single 'The Honey G Show' is to be released on December 23.

In her Twitter video, clad in her trademark cap and sunglasses, she said: "And yes it is true, I am now signed to Simon Cowell's label, Syco.

"I'm just so happy, I can't explain how happy I am."

The rapper - whose real name is Anna Georgette Gilford - added: "I hope that everyone goes out, buys the single, supports it. We tear it up and we kill it, smash it.

"Bring on the album."
