A cousin of Nick Alexander, the Briton that died in the Paris terror attacks, has told ITV News of his huge sense of pride when he reads the tributes to the 35-year-old.

Lawrence Britt said he was "completely torn" to find out Nick had been among those who died in the Bataclan in the attacks.

Mr Britt told ITV News: "My overriding feeling whenever I see the messages to him, the tributes from all around the world, it's a huge sense of pride that he was my friend, he was my cousin, he was part of my family.

"Every time I think of him or read something about him from someone I'm going to have good memories, it's going to make me smile."

Paying tribute to his cousin, Mr Britt said: "I just remember a guy who was effortless to be around. He was incredibly friendly and well-mannered.

"He just had an air about him to me. He was always that cool cousin - the way he dressed, the way he acted, the way he was.

"He had an infectious personality and that's why he made so many friends and impacted so many people. We're all completely torn by what has happened."

Mr Britt said he found out from social media that Nick, from Colchester, may have been caught up in the attacks and that news of his death was confirmed by Nick's sister Zoe on Saturday evening.

He said it was just another night for Nick, who was the Merchandising Manager for the rock band Eagles of Death Metal who were on their European tour.

"He was always touring, he was always selling merchandise for bands. It's what he loved to do. It was a tragic case of someone being in the wrong place at the wrong time," Mr Britt said.

He said the family had received tributes from bands and well-known recording artists such as Crowded House and Scissor Sisters.
