The Gruffalo creator on bringing stories to life

Award-winning author Julia Donaldson and her long-standing illustrator Axel Scheffler have sold millions of children’s books, including The Gruffalo, since they started working together 25 years ago. We can't even imagine how many times their titles have been read by parents during the bedtime routine, but we imagine it would stretch into billions!

Talking about the importance of reading, Julia told Lorraine, 'I heard that children's book sales are way up and children are liking physical books, which is brilliant.' It is indeed.

Julia and Axle now have a new book out called The Ugly Five, which is set to give kids and parents even more fun. Watch the video to find out how the fantastical story came about.
