The Queen’s estate invests millions in offshore tax haven

It has been revealed that The Queen’s private estate has millions invested in offshore tax havens including the Cayman Islands and Bermuda.

The leak of 13.4 million documents has been dubbed the Paradise Papers and has exposed many politicians, celebrities, public figures and businesses in a legal tax avoidance scheme which uses trusts, foundations and shell companies to hide their money from the tax man.

Sir Vince Cable and Labour’s Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell spoke to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain this morning about the leak.

The Liberal Democrats leader said the papers are “now exposing secrecy, we’re seeing more transparency”.

Mr McDonnell added: “It’s shocking, many people will be absolutely outraged, money is being deprived from our NHS, education and the care of our elderly.”

More details are expected to emerge of the papers leak, with over 100 media outlets examining the papers.
