The gender-neutral debate: Is it the end of ‘his’ and ‘hers’?
There was a huge reaction after Emma Watson won the first gender-neutral prize at the MTV TV & Movie Awards.
Emma said: “MTV's move to create a genderless award for acting will mean something different to everyone.”
The award ceremony sparked a debate on whether we should scrap the use of ‘his’ and ‘her’.
This morning we asked transgender former boxing promoter Kellie Maloney and journalist Harriet Minter to weigh in on their views. It's fair to say that we know which side Piers favours in this debate.
We ran a GMB poll asking viewers if award ceremonies should get rid of male/female categories. 82% of voters agreed with Piers and said that we shouldn’t get rid of the separate categories and keep them as they are. What do you think?
