Transgender woman booted out of beauty contest

I felt let down and disappointed

Jossy Yendall was axed from a beauty contest because she was born a boy

A transgender woman axed from a beauty contest because she was born a boy has started a petition calling for the rules to be changed.

Jossy Yendall, 29, from Gateshead, said she had successfully made it through to the final of the UK-wide competition Miss Galaxy.

But the care home worker's dream was shattered when she was suddenly told she could no longer take part because they had overlooked the fact she was transgender.

Jossy told Good Morning Britain she declared in her application that she was transgender but was booted out of the competition when pageant bosses discovered she was born a boy.

It's just not in line with the modern world
